Happy New Year!! Wow, 2010 went by way too fast!
So, did you set your goals for 2011 yet? If not, you better get on it!
A lot of us will try to start working out and make health and fitness a part of our lives and make that our new years resolution (most only last 8 weeks ). Here are a few tips to help you get a kick start to your weight loss adventure.
All those crappy cereals, breakfast bars, packaged meals, and junk needs to go! The way I see it is, if you have to kill it or pick it then you can eat it 🙂
2. Get active 3-4 days a week
Everyone thinks that means get a gym membership and show up to the gym. NO NO NO! By getting active you can go for a run, do martial arts, bike riding, hiking, join a local boot camp, or just get moving!
3. Eat more protein
Lets face it, majority of your calories comes from carbs. Most of us barely consume any protein. Shoot for .5-1 gram of protein per pound that you weigh. My favorite sources are a chicken breast, lean steak, egg whites, eggs, whey protein and fish. Your goal should be to consume a small amount of protein in every meal.
4. Set goals
Without goals you have no direction. You end up going nowhere and staying the same. I don’t know about you but I’m VERY goal oriented and I set all kinds of goals. Set weekly, monthly and yearly goals right now if you haven’t already. Write it down or type it up and leave a copy in your room, on the fridge, in your car and at your work. Set realistic goals also, we sometimes set unrealistic goals and end up disappointed and discouraged.
5. Get some sleep
Sleep is very important. Most people overlook this and think everything is fine but sleep plays a huge part in weight loss and health. Shoot for 7-8 hours a day.
