This Is Your Year- Monday Motivation With Orange County Gym

by

New years resolution…new year, new you…a fresh start or whatever other new year saying there is. It doesn’t matter.

How bad was every previous year that you need to start over each year? Starting over sucks! Why does a new year have to be a reason to want to be better and set resolutions? Because everyone else is doing it? Honestly, how long do you stay on track once you set your resolution…3 weeks, 2 months, 6 months tops? That’s not how it should be.

For anything in YOUR life to change, means YOU have to change.

I’m not here to be the Grinch  I’m just the one who will tell you how I really feel and what others might not say because they either A. don’t care or B. make it seem okay for them to fail and start over each year.

YOU’RE BETTER THAN THAT!

Stop making excuses, stop blaming others, cut all the negative people out of your life, get off your butt and figure it out! Ya it’s tough, but nothing worthwhile comes easy. You’re capable of a lot more than you think you just need to take that first step and believe in yourself. I believe in you!

Every day you should strive to be better. Not as good as tomorrow but better than yesterday. Set goals, short-term goals, long-term goals and life goals. Without goals and direction you’re going in circles and will end up in the same spot year after year wanting to start fresh January 1st.  There’s no such thing as maintaining you’re either getting better or getting worse!

Why do you need to set new resolutions each year. Why not set short goals and reevaluate each year and just keep getting better?

You can hate me now and say I’m a jerk and I’m being negative…I’m totally okay with that, but I say this because I expect more from you, I know you’re better than that and I actually give a crap!

Look back on the year, have you accomplished anything significant? Are you better this year than last year or are you content?

Sit on your butt for an hour and reflect on 2012. Yes, turn your cell phone off and get off Facebook and do this! You know I’m right, you spend more time checking people statuses then you probably do working on your goals!

-Did I reach my goals in 2012? Why or why not?

-What can I do better this year or what can I do differently to be better?

-Did I progress in 2012 from 2011?

-Did I do anything significant?

-List all of your 2013 goals and what action steps you’ll take to reach them.

I think this might open your eyes up a bit, you’ll be surprised. Sure did open my eyes when I did it.

Nobody is perfect and I know I sure am not even close and I mess up all the time. I know how you feel, it’s tough, life isn’t easy but we can’t keep starting over each year. Just take small steps of progress and eventually the outcome is huge! Once your goals are done, print them out put them in your car, at work, in your room on the fridge…hell even put it as the background of your phone! It’s a constant reminder, it really works!

Don’t do this alone, find a support group to keep you accountable. Make sure they are people you want to be like and that actually give a crap. I’ve been blessed with two close friends that call me out on everything  keep me in check, tell me things at times I don’t want to hear but need to hear and will always keep me on my toes. I LOVE IT! As much as it might bug me sometimes or piss me off, it only makes me want to work harder and be better and I know they always have my back. So, surround yourself with a solid support group!

Since I consider you a friend I want to share with you some of my notes. Ya I’m that weirdo who needs little reminders, quotes and notes to help him stay on track 🙂 and I’m totally okay with that!

You can copy them, save them print them or share them I don’t mind. Now look, this might have no meaning to you but to me it’s right. I have a lot more but I only will share a few of the key points. Check it out.

Lifestyle notes and Beliefs

1. Trust God

2. Believe in yourself. Anything is possible if you believe.

3. Cut ALL negative people out of your life. If they aren’t happy for your success, they gotta go! Life’s to short for energy vampires, shady people, non-action takers and complainers to be in your life.

4. Don’t let others tell you what you can or can’t do in life. Do what YOU want.

5. Surround yourself with people you want to be like

6. Have an extraordinary purpose

7. Live in a state of gratitude as often as possible

8. Live with passion-No matter what you do in life do it with passion. When it comes to a career it’s passion NOT money that keeps you going

9. Always stand up for what you believe in, even if it means standing alone

10. Action Alleviates Anxiety – There’s no way around fear, only through it… feel the fear and do it anyway

11. Inspire someone

Quotes

-When you wanna succeed as bad as you want to breathe, that’s when you’ll be successful

-Nothing great ever comes without sacrifice

– Character is doing the right thing when no one is watching.

-Challenges are what make life interesting. Overcoming them is what makes life meaningful. – Joshua J. Marine

-One major thing that stands in between you and the fulfillment of your dream is the willingness to start, the courage to move ahead and the faith to finish.

-You have to do what others won’t. To achieve what others don’t.

-Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe.-Gail Devers

-Nothing worthwhile comes easily. Half effort does not produce half results. It produces no results. Work, continuous work and hard work, is the only way to accomplish results that last.

– In order to achieve your dreams, you must embrace adversity and make failure a regular part of your life. If you’re not failing you’re probably not really moving forward.
