When I joined No Limit two and a half years ago, I was 60 pounds heavier. I could not do a push up or hold a plank. I had just had my second child and I thought I’d never get back into shape again, no less go back to being the athlete I was in my 20’s.
“Fast-forward to 2016, and I can proudly tell you that my body has NEVER looked this good or performed at this level.”
Fast-forward to 2016, and I can proudly tell you that my body has NEVER looked this good or performed at this level, despite having previously been a NCAA Division I Rower and recreational triathlete. I’m celebrating what I’ve achieved through consistency and hard work with the guidance and leadership of an amazing trainer, Richard, and a supportive gym. Simply put, I could not have gotten here on my own.
In the last 6 months, with Richard’s skillful coaching and most importantly, nutritional guidance, I’ve crushed every physical goal I have ever imagined for myself. I told him that I always have wanted ab muscles and that my college rowing coach had told me I would never have them because I was not ‘genetically’ structured that way. For years, I thought I just couldn’t have the athletic body that I wanted.
Richard was shocked and practically laughed in my face and told me, “if you want abs, you can have them!”
He was right. I just needed to eat and train smart. I started making important changes to my nutrition by eating more protein and vegetables and watching my portions. I have cheat meals, but I carefully time my rewards around riding my bike and training hard. The best thing about working with Richard is that he leads by example through his own training and eating habits. The proof is right there; I am motivated by his performance and dedication to his own training. He shows us that anything is possible through hard work and consistency.

Richard told me that I could get abs; we got the abs. I wanted the pull-ups; we got the pull ups. But, it’s the bigger picture that he taught me the most. He showed me that I was being mentally stopped in my life by the fixed beliefs that I had about what I thought was possible for myself because of what others have said. This is a profound lesson I will carry into my life in and out of the gym.
The lifestyle of training and nutrition that I’ve learned from Richard and my training partner Tanya, will offer me the reward of enjoying my body and my sports for many years, and at a high level of performance. This hard work has rekindled a stronger confidence in myself as an athlete, a mother, and a cyclist. The types of commitments I’ve made to my physical goals are easily transferable to other areas of my life such as family and work. It’s contagious in the best way possible.
The atmosphere created by the No Limit staff and its members allow everyone to feed off each other’s energy and motivation. Sako has provided a gym that is a great home base for me to train with my partners and be accountable for my goals. I can’t wait to crush new records this year with everyone at No Limit!
