My ‘No Limit story’ starts almost 2 years ago. At that time, my husband, Ricky, was working out at No Limit Boot Camp. He would talk about how much he loved the ‘No Limit Family’ and how great he felt after boot camp work outs. We went on an anniversary vacation and he kept saying to me “Melissa, you should really come try the boot camp… I think you would like it.” My first response to this was, “what, you think I’m fat and need to start working out!!!” Over time though, I started to see how great he really did feel from working out… and how great he was looking! He was starting to show results, felt energized and we were able to make his workout schedule balance with our work and family schedule.
I realized that I didn’t necessarily need to lose weight, but that I had lost a significant amount of muscle mass during my pregnancy and the 2 years afterward that I had stopped working out. Maybe this ‘boot camp’ idea may work.
“I have to admit the first few days were really tough… but after about a month, I could feel the difference.”
My concern was that I was going to feel intimidated, or weak, or look ridiculous not knowing what I was doing. But I decided I would give it a try. I have to admit the first few days were really tough… but after about a month, I could feel the difference. I could make it through a work out without feeling like I was going to pass out or throw up. Then I started to realize I could run longer, lift heavier weights, and even keep up with the veteran boot campers. Maybe I was getting stronger!
For almost 6 months now, I have been training with Bri and taking occasional boot camps as I can fit them into our crazy life schedule. Bri’s help in this process has been amazing. She is able to manipulate work outs when my back or my knee is hurting, taught me injury prevention techniques, and encouraged me to push myself more than I typically would on my own. Also, she is flexible with our schedule which helps when I am trying to balance being a mom, a wife, an ER doctor, and whatever else I throw on my plate for that week!
“No Limit has truly opened itself up to our family. It is such a unique environment of support for your health and strength, and also your mental well being. “
No Limit has truly opened itself up to our family. It is such a unique environment of support for your health and strength, and also your mental wellbeing. The fact that I can be working out with Bri, next to my husband working with Jeff, and having our 4 year daughter, Lily, in the next room watching us promote healthy life style habits is amazing. Lily is equally as excited to ‘go to the gym’ as we are. She loves to go see all her friends and the trainers seem to love seeing her too!
I may not have lost 100 pounds, or trained to run a marathon… but No Limit has helped me add exercise and strength training back into my life when I didn’t think I could manage it. I feel strong, happy and motivated to continue on this journey and am excited to have my own family and my No Limit family with me along the way!
