Orange County Boot Camp Trainer Gives Three Ways To Serve Sweet Potatoes

One food that you should consider adding to your diet plan if you want to improve your nutrition while accelerating the rate of fat loss you see is sweet potatoes.

If you participate in a regular strength training workout program, it is going to be imperative that you are taking in some complex carbohydrates at some point along the way.

Sweet potatoes will fit the bill perfectly. Not only are they a great form of complex carbohydrate, but they’re also high in dietary fiber as well.

The problem for many people is that apart from baking their sweet potatoes, they aren’t quite sure how to prepare them.

Let’s look at a few quick ideas to get you started.

Cut Them Into Fries

The first way to consider preparing your sweet potatoes is in French fries. Simply cut them into French fries, coat them with an egg white or two, a little bit of olive oil, and some salt, and then spread amongst a baking sheet and bake them in the oven for 20-30 minutes, flipping at half time.

These are a great snack any time and work perfectly as a side dish to your main protein source.

Mash Them

If you’re getting ready for a big family dinner, rather than going in for some regular mashed potatoes, which are often high in calories and saturated fat if prepared with butter, try mashing sweet potatoes instead.

Use a little chicken broth for added flavor and you’ll have a far healthier dish that won’t do a number on your waist line.

Sweet potatoes work great mashed, so can be a direct substitute.

Turn Them Into Soup

Finally, the last way to consider serving up sweet potatoes is to prepare them into a soup. You can either cube them and add them to the soup that way, or if you prefer, you can puree them into a thick, tasty soup that will give you a great dose of complex carbohydrates along with fiber.

Sweet potatoes add a very unique taste to any soup you’re preparing, so feel free to experiment with a few different recipes.

So there you have some fast and ultra-simple ways to get sweet potatoes into your diet plan. Remember that these do keep well in the fridge as well, so make up a few at a time to reduce your cooking prep process.
