After having her son, Amber did what a lot of parents do. She put herself last. She felt guilty taking time to work out while her son was awake, so exercise slowly disappeared from her routine. Most of her activity came from walking her son and the family dog after work.
That was a big change for someone who had grown up playing sports and continued playing soccer into her 20s. Eventually, Amber realized that taking care of herself didn’t have to mean taking something away from her family. She joined No Limit Personal Training.
More than six years later, approaching 40, Amber says she’s in the best shape and strongest she’s ever been and you can see it in the way she lives.
Getting Past the Guilt of Taking Time for Herself
For Amber, getting back into fitness wasn’t really about finding another workout. She needed to become comfortable making her own health a priority again. Like many busy moms, taking an hour for herself could feel selfish when there were always other things that needed her attention. Joining No Limit gave her a place where that time felt worthwhile. She says she fell in love with it almost immediately. What started as a way to get active again eventually became something she has stayed consistent with for more than six years.
Amber has become physically stronger, but that’s only part of why she continues to train. Her workouts have also become an important mental reset. She describes training as her “mental therapy” — time that helps her feel confident, grounded, and more like herself. That consistency has added up.
Today, Amber says she’s stronger and in better shape than she has ever been. But some of her favorite results aren’t measured inside the gym.
Strong Enough to Keep Up With the Kids
Amber now coaches her 8-year-old son’s soccer team and she doesn’t coach from the sidelines. She gets into the drills with the boys. She runs the laps. She helps pick up the cones when practice is over. She can run around with a group of 8-year-olds without finishing practice feeling completely exhausted or out of breath.
For Amber, that matters. She wants the kids she coaches — especially her son — to see her doing the same things she asks of them. As she puts it, she’s able to “walk the walk” instead of just talking about it. That may be one of the best examples of what getting stronger can actually look like.
What Six Years of Consistency Can Do
Amber’s transformation didn’t happen because of one perfect workout or a short-term challenge. It came from showing up consistently. Over six years of strength training at No Limit Personal Training, she has built the strength, fitness, and confidence that now carry over into the rest of her life. She’s approaching 40 feeling better than ever. She can keep up with her son. She can coach his team the way she wants to, and she has something in her week that allows her to take care of herself, too.
That’s the kind of progress we want training to create.
Taking Care of Yourself Isn’t Taking Away From Your Family
A lot of parents struggle with the same thought Amber once had: “If I take this time for myself, I’m taking it away from my family.” Amber’s experience became the opposite. The time she invested in becoming stronger gave her more physical capacity to participate in her son’s life.
Instead of watching soccer practice from the sidelines, she’s running alongside him.
Instead of simply telling the kids to work hard, she can show them.
And instead of reaching 40 feeling like her best years are behind her, Amber says she’s in the best shape of her life. Sometimes taking care of yourself is one of the best ways to show up for everyone else.
If you’ve been putting your own health at the bottom of the list, you don’t have to completely change your life to start.
You just have to start.
