There are many causes to back pains, and it affects all types of people, from athletes to office managers. Whether you pull a muscle while playing sports, or suffer from chronic lower back pain while sitting in front of a
computer, the result is the same: a sharp, stinging sensation. It is debilitating to say the least, and the only thing on your mind is how to make it stop, now!
If the pain is severe, you can try over the counter medication, such as NSAIDs (Non-steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs). For instant relief, try applying heat to your back in the form of a heating pad. Keep the heat on the injured area for 15 minutes at a time and you should begin to feel the pain lessen as your muscles relax. Staying with the heat remedy, spending some quality soaking time in a bathtub of warm water also soothes your back. Add a little Epsom salt to speed up the process and allow your body to relax in the water for about 15 to 30 minutes.
Rest in bed for a day, but not any longer than that, because you need to stay active in order to inspire healing and prevent future pains. Slowly begin mild stretching exercises to keep the blood flowing through your back muscles, but be receptive to the way your body responds. Light exercising will usually ease an injured back, but if you experience any pain at all, stop immediately.
One of the above techniques, or a combination of all of them, should get you back on your feet. Remember that if your back pain persists, see a doctor. Otherwise, enjoy the heat and relaxation, and feel better!
