Weight training will bulk up the female figure.
If too heavy a weight is used, perhaps the body will bulk up but performed correctly with the right weight and appropriate number of repetitions, the body will gain lean muscle mass and burn more calories at rest. A lean muscular body on both men and women is sexy.
Nuts and seeds will cause weight gain.
Okay yes, these foods contain many calories but they are some of the healthiest foods because they contain mono-saturated oils. These are the good fats and are so beneficial for heart health. Nuts and seeds contain omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acids, and borage oil contains omega 9. Essential fatty acids are beneficial for heart health, improve brain functions, heal the skin, and help to burn off excess fats in the body. Just a couple of tablespoons of seeds per day will provide enough EFA’s for the body. Try to stay away from salted nuts and eat the natural kinds. Nuts and seeds contain fibre and protein, which help the body to feel fuller for longer. Sadly, many women who aim to lose weight avoid nuts with the belief they cause weight gain. If too many are eaten, of course but that is the same with any food eaten excessively.
Avoid breakfast to lose weight.
Unfortunately, breakfast IS the most important meal of the day. When the body sleeps, it is in fasting mode and the best way to help it shoot out of starvation mode is to eat. Try to eat foods that contain protein, carbohydrates, and a little fat. An English breakfast is healthy if the food is grilled rather than fried. Rye or pumpernickel breads are healthy and cause less of a bloat in the body, ideal for wheat intolerant persons. Aim to eat up to 500 calories for breakfast each morning. A good breakfast will cause you to eat less throughout the day.
Eating at night will cause weight gain
Many celebs follow this rule not t
o eat after 8pm. The truth is, if your daily calorie intake is 2000 and you have 500 calories left at 8pm, it is okay to eat. Eating a meal later in the day may be the norm for some people due to longer working hours etc. Eating later in the day will not cause weight gain. It may be harder to get to sleep with a full stomach but it will not cause weight gain.
Crash diets work.
Fad diets of any sort are unhealthy. Some of the silly weight loss diets out there include the cabbage soup diet, the zone, and eating just apples to name a few. Okay, these may cause short-term weight loss but usually water loss not fat. A healthy diet consists of protein, carbohydrates, water, fibre, and vitamins and minerals to supply optimum nutrition to the body, so aim to eat healthily 80% of the time and have one cheat day a week where you eat your ‘naughty’ foods.
